To answer your question— L4D is 32-bit so it won't run on Catalina. To install Bootcamp all you need to do is. Buy or find a 16GB (or higher) USB drive— which costs $6. Download a Windows .iso file from Microsoft (its free!) Run Boot Camp Assistant which comes with macOS, in the Applications > Utilities folder.
